How NEMT Bidding Works

Short answer: You set a starting price, verified drivers accept it or send one counter offer, and the ride is only booked once both sides agree. No broker sets your rate, and your card is never charged until you confirm.

Traditional non-emergency medical transportation runs through brokers who assign a driver and set the price behind the scenes. MyAmbulex replaces that with an open bidding model, so you stay in control of the cost and the choice.

The booking flow, step by step

Post your ride. Enter pickup, destination, date, and time, plus any needs like wheelchair or stretcher transport. You will see a suggested starting price. Adjust it up or down to whatever you want to offer, then submit. This takes about 60 seconds by app, text, or phone.
Your ride posts immediately. Verified drivers in your area can see it right away.
Drivers respond. A driver can accept your price as posted, or send a counter offer.
You negotiate, briefly. If no one accepts your starting price, you can accept a driver's counter or send one final counter of your own. The driver then accepts or passes.
Both sides confirm. Once a driver accepts, you confirm to lock in the ride. Only then is your card on file charged.

Keeping negotiations fast and fair

The system is built so nobody wastes time going back and forth:

Counters stay within 30%. A driver's counter offer cannot be more than 30% away from your posted price. If two parties are too far apart, the deal simply does not happen instead of dragging out.
Three offers, then it settles. A negotiation is capped at three total offers: your starting price, a driver counter, and your final counter. That keeps booking quick and predictable.

Booking early vs. urgent rides

We recommend posting at least 24 hours ahead, and up to 30 days for regular appointments. Earlier posts usually draw more drivers and better offers.

Rides posted less than 24 hours before pickup are marked urgent priority so drivers see them faster. Urgent rides carry a $50 cancellation fee, and you will see this warning clearly before you book.

Choose on more than price

Price drives most decisions, and that is fine. But we encourage you to weigh other factors too, especially driver ratings and history, which are visible before you accept. The cheapest option is not always the best fit for a medical appointment.

Transparent pricing, no surcharges

The price you agree to is the price you pay. Every ride shows a detailed cost breakdown on the pricing page, and there are no hidden surcharges or broker markups added later.
